By now you've probably heard the news. Our favorite breakfast spot in Winston-Salem, Mary's of Course, is closing it's doors on May 23rd...but wait - don't panic! They're re-opening in a bigger location with a new name - Breakfast Of Course, Mary's Too.
Mary's Of Course is going to hold their last Sunday Brunch on May 23, 2010, with a Pajama Brunch. You have to wear PJ's to get served :) Mary's is normally packed on weekends, but expect it to be completely ridiculous on this last day - so arrive early. Come on down and help but Mary's of Course to bed.
Mary's new restaurant will have a Grand Opening on June 4th at 723 Trade Street, so mark your calendars Winstonites! Mary and her staff are excited about their "new and amazing" space, and Miss Mary K is on the way to redesigning a new website - stay tuned for details.
Mary is having a Charity Auction to auction off all the interesting memorabilia you've enjoyed while brunching in Mary's cafe. They're not all coming along to Mary's Too, so you'll have a chance to bid on everything from toys and Hello Kitty collectibles to salt & pepper shakers, Pez dispensers and more. Proceeds will go to Heart House for one of Mary's favorite charities - the Chittagong Orphanage.
Dr. John Sircar, the founder of the Chittagong Orphanage, was raised in India, educated in America, and returned to help the orphans of his country. His orphanage has a primary school that educates children from 5 different areas of the country with the aim of having them return and minister in their own communities. Mary's of Course has supported Dr. Sircar for several years, and has had the honor of hosting him in the Cafe on one of his trips to the States.
Nice to have another 3am location in town, and especially on this side of town (6th & Vine and Finnegan's Wake) area. Before this we had to treck all the way down to Burke St pizza in the West End to get our hangover fix. Don't get me wrong, I love the pizza, but it's nice to have a breakfast option, especially when it's really closer to breakfast time anyways
I was happy to see that Mary's famous breakfast burrito is still as scrumptious as ever. The day that burrito leaves town, I might just too!
